Ben was magnificent. His bass voice resounded throughout this great building, with clarity and emotion, thrilling both the choir and an appreciative audience. 

Our booked bass was forced to withdraw 48 hours before our performance of Judas Maccabaeus in Durham Cathedral. This, coupled with the dreadful Storm Eowyn on the Friday, was turning out to be a disaster in progress.

But Ben was approached late Thursday, and agreed to perform, as bass soloist, a part with which he was unacquainted. He had just 24 hours to learn the part.
