Good singing isn’t a lottery: but trained like any other skill
Professional Vocal Training
The myth goes something like this: either you can, or you can’t.
Your voice is the primary tool for expression in the world, you discovered this before you could walk. How can you make the most out of it?
Lessons are tailored to your goals, whether that be improving technique, musicality, confidence, or performing skills.
Together, we will work towards your goals, build a healthy technique, and furnish you with creative ownership over your instrument.
I help people with a passion for singing unlock their vocal potential.
Why Train Singing?
-
Whether you are taking the bold step for your very first lesson, or seeking support on a specific issues: resonance, range, breath control, moving through registers, stamina, and much more.
-
As individuals learn to harness their vocal talents, they often experience a transformative journey of self-discovery. This newfound confidence transcends the act of performance, allowing individuals to approach new challenges with a boldness previously unimagined.
-
Learn to read and interpret a score, develop your inner ear, and strengthen your understanding of the musical elements. All in tandem with learning your instrument.
-
Confidence is derived in part from trusting that the voice will do what you want it to. Solid foundations will help you join and sustain your place in the ensembles or institutions you want to be part of.
-
Working towards certification and grades if you choose, in recognition of your success. Grade 8 singing passed with Distinction is 30 UCAS points – or the equivalent of another A Level.
-
Expressive singing is an exhilarating experience. Training singing is not about imitating somebody else, but about discovering your own authentic voice with gentle guidance and mentorship.
Develop your Voice
My teaching philosophy is simple:
Our job is to get out of our own way long enough to let the voice come out.
1:1 Sessions.
Personalised coaching in a welcoming environment to develop your voice.
Group Sessions
Share a session with a friend (or more, lucky thing) and support each other on your journey.
Session Outline
-
Sessions can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes
-
Early in the lesson, we will establish any observations you have had about your voice. Singing is working with theatres of the imagination. Bringing forth observations about how your voice is feeling can help inform the warm-up strategy.
-
The singer who focuses on communicating always sounds better than the singer who focuses solely on technique.
Our aim is that the important work we do technically is absorbed over time into muscle memory, so we can focus on why we are really singing: to express our emotions and ideas.
Depending on your aspirations, we will work together on the music you want to sing.

FAQs
-
If you can speak, you can sing. The first step any good singing teacher or music leader takes when dealing with a voice is ensuring that the core of the voice is consistent and well-knitted together.
Consistency is the most important step. Well-roundedness, timbre, range, dynamics, and even intonation are all things that can be improved in time with the right guidance.
-
Like all skills, your progress is determined by consistency. Practise little and often. Singing is sensation; the best progress is made through regular lessons, combined with regular practise, so that you can implement changes and instantiate positive habits.
-
This will depend on your circumstances and motivations. For beginners, and those working towards an important performance outcome, I would recommend regularity to build consistency. I encourage my students to record their sessions, so that you can still benefit, even if the sessions are on a more ad hoc basis.
-
I understand what it is like to want to do something, but be nervous or even scared about sharing that with the world. I’ve been there too.
Consistency creates confidence. Regardless of your prior experience, if you can talk, you can sing. I’m not here to judge, I’m here to help you realise your vocal potential.
